NURSING CONSIDERATIONS: y Tell patient that drug works best when taken before pain becomes severe y Recommend abstinence from alcohol when taking medication y Caution patient that drug can cause dependence

Indication: y y y Prevention and treatment of iron deficiency anemias Dietary supplement for iron Unlabeled use: supplemental use during epoetin therapy to ensure proper hematologic response to epoetin Contraindication: y Those with allergy to any ingredient.
