Your child has the opportunity to learn in a safe, private Internet environment called a Moodle that is accessible only by the teacher and members of my child s grade at St. Bernard School. There, your child can use Internet resources, participate in discussions, post information s/he has learned and work s/he has created, and even continue doing school work during a snow day. Sometimes your child will use the class Moodle during school, especially at the beginning, while other times your child may use the class Moodle from a family internet computer, a school computer, or a public library computer. Working in this environment will help your child learn about using the Internet and Internet tools safely and appropriately, while supporting the school s curriculum. As in the face-to-face classroom, the teacher sets standards for student behavior and monitors student behavior. Student use of the Moodle is based on appropriate behavior. In the rare case that a student posts nasty or harassing words or images, that student s work will be promptly removed and that student may lose access to the Moodle. Students who do not have access to Moodle for any reason will be able to access assignments via Edline and the classroom homework board, and are thus expected to complete all Moodle assignments. y I give permission for my child to use the class Moodle, located at https://stbernard.globalclassroom.us/cirrus/, and other Internet tools that keep my child s identity private. If my child has difficulty accessing the Moodle for any reason, my child can type the work and hand it in on time for credit. My child should notify the teacher if experiencing this problem. If my child posts hurtful or inappropriate words or materials, these will be removed, and my child will receive no credit for the assignment. In such circumstances, my child may lose access to the Moodle, and will have to type assignments and hand them in on time to receive credit. If I would like to view my child s work on the class Moodle, I can arrange an appointment with the teacher to do so. If I have any questions or concerns, I can reach the teacher at X
