Wishing a very happy 72nd birthday to Horror Hall of Famer actor, Sid Haig!

Best known to this generation of fans as the iconic Captain Spaulding in Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and it's sequel, The Devil's Rejects, Haig's acting resume stretches back to the 1960's with appearances in hundreds of television shows (usually as the heavy) and his work with director Jack Hill in the blaxploitation movies of the 70's. In 1992 though, after almost 40 years of being typecast as a heavy, Haig quit acting saying "I'll never play another stupid 'heavy' again, and I don't

care if that means I never work again, ever." He turned his attention to running a local community theater in Simi Valley, CA and getting his certification as a hypnotherapist. Hollywood though, wasn't ready to let him go that easily. In 1997, Quentin Tarantino wrote him a part as the judge in Jackie Brown and in 2000 Rob Zombie persuaded Haig to come out of retirement to play the gleefully murderous clown. I've been aware of Haig for years as one of those character actors you can trust to deliver a quality performance, but I never realized he had appeared in so many of the shows I loved and grew up watching like: Star Trek, Batman, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Daniel Boone, The Flying Nun, Gunsmoke, Get Smart, Mission Impossible, Mannix, Alias Smith and Jones, Police Story, The Six Million Dollar Man, Get Christie Love, Emergency, The Rockford Files, Monster Squad, Charlie's Angels, Switch, Police Woman, Hart to Hart, Quincy M.E., T.J. Hooker, Fantasy Island, The A Team, Fall Guy, Hill Street Blues, MacGyver, Amazing Stories and Sledge Hammer! Thankfully, Haig seems busier than ever with 7 new

projects either just finished or in pre or postproduction including: Creature, The Infliction, Razor, Mimesis, The Sacred, Zombex and Go Straight to Hell.
