July 20, 2011 Mr. Michael P. Kelly, Superintendent Chicago Park District 541 N.

Fairbanks Court Chicago, IL 60611

RE: Brown Park Mr. Kelly thank you for the proposed Playlot . The Playlot is greatly needed but the Playlot alone will not increase the use of Brown Memorial Park. I respectfully like to point out several issues and would like to request solutions. 1. Brown Memorial Park is named after Sidney Brown, a Chicago Fire Fighter who died in the line of duty. He was the first African American fighter to die in the line of duty and Chatham resident. Last year our community unfortunately lost another firefighter Cory Ankum. In addition, we have also lost two Chicago Police officers Thomas Wortham IV and Michael Bailey. I would like to request that a memorial garden be planted in their honor. This gardem would allow our residents especially our seniors from the adjacent building to meet and plant flowers in the garden and relax and reflect. 2. I would like to request a Water Park or similar facility. The Water Park would bring families into the park who do not use the park because of a lack of bathroom facilities. 3. The game of tennis is popular in Chatham, we have produced a number of CPS champions who cut their teeth at Brown and Tuley Park. I request the resurfacing of the tennis courts to bring them up to the quality of other top of the line Park District tennis facilities.

I would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and look forward to seeing these request come to fuition.
