This Kriya can be practised while standing in a river.

ThereisanotherwayofdoingBastiwithoutthehelpofwater.ItiscalledSthula-Basti.Sitin
Paschimottanasanaonthegroundandchurntheabdominalandintestinalportionsslowlywitha
downwardmotion.Contractthesphinctermuscles.Thisremovesconstipationandallthe
abdominal disorders. This is not so effective as the Jala-Basti.
