PROTOCOL GOVERNING SPECIAL TRAINING ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF INTRAVENOUS INJECTIONS FOR REGISTERED NURSES WHEREAS R.A. 7164, Sec. 27 (a) provides that the practice of intravenous injections (I.V.) by nurses requires a special training according to protocol established; WHEREAS, there exists an urgent need to spell out the nature and content of aforementioned protocol for the clients/patients and nurse practitioners; WHEREAS, after series of consultations, with the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP); the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA); Department of Health (DOH); Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS); Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing (ADPCN); University of the Philippines College of Nursing (UPCN); and other concerned groups, the Board of Nursing hereby establishes the PROTOCOL governing the special training required before the administration of intravenous injection. (Sec. 27-a) and adopts the ANSAP I.V. Nursing Standards of Practice. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved as it is hereby resolved that this herein established protocol and IV Nursing Standards of Practice be promulgated, disseminated, and strictly complied with by all concerned: Done in the City of Manila this 17th day of May, 1995.
