Control system LAB [EIC-551] Definition of control system: - Control systems, combinations of components
(electrical, mechanical, thermal, or hydraulic) that act together to maintain actual system performance close to a desired set of performance specifications. Open-loop control systems (e.g., automatic toasters and alarm clocks) are those in which the output has no effect on the input. Closed-loop control systems (e.g., thermostats, engine governors, automotive cruisecontrol systems, and automatic tuning control circuits) are those in which the output has an effect on the input in such a way as to maintain the desired output value.
Advantages of control system Lab:1. This lab enhances student awareness of dynamical modeling and control systems by providing hands on experience using various experimental apparatus. By combining, dynamical modeling, system identification, controller design (PD,PI,PID, Lead-Lag and controller implementation, the course provides a fundamental understanding of real world control system design from start to end. 2. These labs focus on technical implementation issues of classical control theory in the frequency domain and modern control theory in the state-space. 3. It helps the students to learn about various motors speed control as well as position control on Open loop as well as closed loop system. 4. MATLAB is a widely used tool in the Control System. It can be used for simple mathematical manipulations with matrices, for understanding and teaching basic mathematical and engineering concepts, and even for studying and simulating actual power systems and electric systems in general.
