1. What are important features of embedded operating systems? 2. List four design issues for which the concept of concurrency is relevant. 3. What is the relationship between FIFO and clock page replacement algorithms? 4. What are the three conditions that must be present for deadlock to be possible? 5. What is the meaning of the term “busy waiting”? What other kinds of waitings are there in an operating system? Can busy waiting be avoided altogether? Explain indetail. 6. Consider a system consisting of m-resources of the same type, being shared by n-processes. Resources can be requested and released by processes only one at a time. Show that the system is deadlock free if the following two conditions hold: (a) The Maximum need of each process is between 1 and m resources. (b) The sum of all maximum needs is less than m+n 7. (a) Discuss in detail the network support in UNIX operating system. (b) Discuss in detail the disk structures in UNIX. 8. (a) Discuss in detail the inter process communication is LINUX operating system. (b) Explain the network structure in LINUX operating system.
