Gauge 26 sts and 28 rows = 4 inches/10cm with larger ndls in color patt To save time, take time to check gauge. Pattern Notes When working color patt, strand yarn not in use loosely on WS over no more than 5 sts. When sts of the same color are separated by more than 5 sts, twist yarns tog on WS to avoid long floats. If desired, last few rows (up to 1 inch) of all pieces may be worked in MC only, to avoid incomplete motifs at upper edges. Back With smaller ndls and MC, CO 67(79)(85) (93) sts. Row 1 (RS): K1, *p1, k1, rep from * across. Row 2 (WS): P1, *k1, p1, rep from * across. Rep Rows 1 and 2 until ribbing meas 1(1)(1 1/2)(1 1/2) inches, ending with a WS row. Change to larger ndls. Work patt from Chart A, beg and end as indicated for desired size. Rep Rows 1-58 of chart until back meas 11(13)(13)(14) inches, ending with a WS row. Next row: BO 18(24)(26)(28)sts, k31(31) (33)(37) and place on holder for back neck, BO 18(24)(26)(28) sts.

Divide for placket On next row, work as est across 30(36)(39) (43)sts, BO center 7 sts, join 2nd ball of yarn and work across rem 30(36)(39)(43) sts. Finishing Buttonhole band Beg at right edge of placket opening, with smaller ndls and MC, RS facing, pick up and k 8 sts from BO edge at center front. Row 1 (WS): *P1, k1, rep from * to last 2 sts, p2. Row 2 (RS): K2, *p1, k1, rep from * to end. Row 3: Rep Row 1. Row 4: K2, k2tog, yo (buttonhole), p1, k1, p1, k1. Continue in rib as est, [working buttonhole every 6th row] 3 more times. Work 1 more row in rib as est. Next row (RS): BO 3 sts in patt, place rem 5 sts on holder for collar. Do not cut yarn. Buttonband With smaller ndls and 2nd skein of MC, RS facing, pick up and k 8 sts from base of buttonhole band at inside edge. Row 1 (WS): P2, *k1, p1, rep from * to end. Row 2 (RS): *K1, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, k2. Work in rib as est for a total of 22 rows. Next row (WS): BO 3 sts, cut yarn, place rem 5 sts on holder for collar. Collar Sew shoulder seams. With smaller ndls and MC, RS facing, rib across 5 sts from buttonhole band holder, pick up and k 19(19)(20) (22) sts along right front neck edge, k 31(31) (33)(37) from back neck holder, pick up and k 19(19)(20)(22) sts along left front neck edge, rib across 5 sts from button band holder. (79, 79, 83, 91 sts) Work in rib across all sts for 26(26)(30) (30) rows. Cut MC. Picot trim With C, work 2 rows St st, beg with a k row. Next row: K1, [yo, k2 tog] to end. Work 2 rows St st. BO all sts. Meas 5(5 1/2)(6)(6 1/2) inches on each side of shoulder seams and place markers on armhole edge. Sew sleeves bet markers. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew placket edges to fronts. Sew buttons opposite buttonholes.

Turn picot trim toward WS of collar along picot line and sew down. Fold collar in half. Weave in ends.
