Preview of Writing Like Poets
The format is to introduce the students to a famous poem, then have them write a parody or their own version of that poem. I chose some interesting and fun poems that students seem to feel strongly about and included plenty of student samples, too. Other forms explored are haiku, acrostic, “me” poems, using personification, metaphors, and similes in poems, and online exercises.
