Brazilian Government Authorizes Gestamp Wind to Bid for 260 MW in the Next Auction

(Madrid, August 4, 2011) Gestamp Wind, wind energy division of Gestamp Renewables (Corporacin Gestamp), has been given permission by the government energy agency to bid for 260 MW in the auction happening August 17, in Brazil. Gestamp Wind, to date has nine wind farms (190 MW) in the north east of the country. Two of this wind farms are operating and the rest are under construction; with a total investment of 338 millions of Euros. Gestamp Wind has registered eleven new projects for the next Aneel auction, expected to be held August 17. If the wind farms are awarded to Gestamp Wind, the projects will bring more than 450 millions of Euros to Brazil, in addition to 260 MW to the Brazilian electrical system. Gestamp Wind has already become one of the most important companies of wind energy generators in Brazil and has planned to keep on continuing with the development of new long term projects in the country. Brazil is one of the strategic markets for Gestamp Wind, where Corporacion Gestam p has made important industrial investments for over a decade ago. Investments which currently have being reinforced with the start up of the factory of steel towers and other components of the same material for wind turbines, located in the Suape port. Gestamp Wind currently has 25 MW operating and has additionally 167 MW under construction in Baha and Rio Grande do Norte, which will start operating between next December and the first three months of the year 2012 . Dionisio Fernndez Auray, CEO of Gestamp Wind has stated that Our goals in Brazil include the development and operation of over 400 MW additional to the 192 MW that we currently have operating and under construction. To achieve this we will participate in the next auction happening in august 17, the Brazilian government recently gave us permission to bid for 260 MW
