Moonlight Sweeper I'm a moonlight sweeper, on a street that I keep, Sweeping away crowds of dust that gather on the

street! From dusk to dawn I try my best to keep it all neat, A task that never ends at the bottom of my feet! I'm a moonlight sweeper, on a street that I keep, My head in the clouds, far away from the heat! All walks of humanity, with a warm smile I greet, Sometimes they look at me, with eyes of conceit! I'm a moonlight sweeper, on a street that I keep, Sweat on the pavement, bloody pools of defeat! Innumerable styles of gait, I'm privileged to meet, Even marching soldiers, whose nightmare's retreat! I'm a moonlight sweeper, on a street that I keep, Heavy blows on concrete, fallen angels of deceit, Amid worlds of chaos, shepherds tend their sheep, God peers from high above, down from his suite! Only when the street is clear is my task complete, Moments of time to savor, my heart is calm, replete, With flowers in bloom, effusing scents so sweet, Before a sign of light arrives, I am fast asleep!
