Jewish New York Itinerary and Details Thursday, October 27 Leave Toronto and meet us at the hotel by 8 pm for

orientation at: Wingate by Wyndam Manhattan, 235 West 35th Street (between 7th and 8th). Friday, October 28 Breakfast and leave for our day on the Lower East Side. We begin at The Tenement Museum where we will experience life as it was; and continue with The Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy on a guided walking tour to the Bialystoker Synagogue, The Eldridge Street Synagogue, The Educational Alliance, Henry Street Settlement, The Forward Building and other Jewish landmarks- with some noshing on the way! Lunch on your own in one of the great Lower East Side delis. We return to the hotel in time to prepare for Shabbat services at Bnai Jeshurun which describes itself as a passionate Jewish community that inspires spiritual searching, lifts the soul, challenges the mind, and requires social responsibility and action. Festive group Shabbat dinner at the hotel following. Saturday, October 29 Breakfast and optional services at the famous Temple Emanuel on Fifth Avenue, largest house of worship in the world and a classical Reform service including an organ recital. Afterward a member of the congregation will speak to us about this renowned building and the congregations long history. Grab a bite on your own on the Upper East Side and meet us or continue with us to the Jewish Museum of New York whose acclaimed permanent exhibition tells the unfolding story of Jewish culture and identity through 800 works of art, archaeology, ceremonial objects, photographs, video and interactive media. Well also have time to see the new exhibit featuring over 50 works of artby Matisse, Picasso, Gauguin, Renoir, van Gogh and moreon loan from The Baltimore Museum of Arts Cone Collection. Dinner and evening on your own. Sunday, October 30 Breakfast and then off to Ellis Island by ferry with our guide Tom Bernardin, former National Park Service ranger at Ellis Island, and author of The Ellis Island Immigrant Cookbook. See the Statue of Liberty on the way, and then visit the Ellis Island Immigration Museum and trace your roots: no matter where your family came to or through you will feel the immigrant experience here! Lunch on your own and then a guided afternoon at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park. Return to the hotel to pick up luggage and depart for the airport. Please plan a flight home no earlier than 7 p.m.
