Park District Information
Who Are The Residents of Huntley Park District?
You are considered a resident of the Huntley Park District if you pay taxes to the district and reside in our boundaries. A resident must show proof of residency (utility bill).

Conduct/Participant Guidelines
Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. 1. Show respect to all participants and staff. 2. Refrain from use of foul language. 3. Show respect for equipment and facilities. 4. Dress appropriately for activities.

Importance of Registering Early
The Huntley Park District staff must set registration deadlines for a variety of programs. Registration deadlines are created due to the time frame it takes for staff to organize, order equipment, form rosters and create schedules. If a patron registers after the deadline or the program is filled prior to the deadline, they will be put onto a waiting list, but being enrolled on a waitlist does NOT guarantee eventual enrollment. Waitlists are taken up until one week before the program begins. Please make an effort to register early. Popular programs do fill up quickly and space is limited. For programs that do not state a registration deadline, please realize for all programs to run efficiently, registration must take place one week prior to the beginning of the first class/program date.

Discipline
The Huntley Park District will use a positive approach regarding discipline. The Huntley Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit. The purpose of discipline is to help a child develop selfcontrol and learn to assume responsibility for his or her own actions. We use positive statements and reinforcements to redirect negative behavior. Should a child need more than that, a “time-out” period may be initiated. We will handle disruptive behavior in the following manner: 1. The parent/guardian will be informed of the specific behavior. A memo will be given to the parent and a copy will be kept in the child’s file. 2. If the behavior continues, the instructor will inform parents a second time. 3. If there is no change in behavior, your child will be dismissed from the class/program; a refund will be issued for the remaining class days. Each situation will be evaluated on its own merit. Disruptive behavior is defined as any behavior that causes, or could lead to, personal injury of your child or others. Examples: hitting, kicking, throwing things, defying or running away, or any behavior that disrupts the normal class climate. Disruptive behavior, in the broad sense, is any behavior that takes an instructor away from the rest of the class for long periods of time. The Huntley Park District reserves the right to remove a participant whose behavior endangers the safety of themselves and others.

Facility Rental
Huntley Park District has picnic shelters and rooms available for rent at a nominal rate. Please call Nancy at 847-669-3180 x301 for more information.

Photos/Video
Photos are periodically taken of participants in class, special events and at Huntley Park District’s parks and facilities. Please be aware that these photos are for Huntley Park District use only and may be used in the District’s publications, website and marketing.

Suggestion Box
The Huntley Park District has a suggestion box in the registration office at the REC Center. We are looking for your creative ideas in programming. We strive to do our best for the community and any suggestion you have will help us to better serve you. Please drop off or e-mail any suggestions you have to info@huntleyparks.org.

ATVs, Scooters, Bikes & All Motorized Vehicles
The use of motorized vehicles in our parks is strictly prohibited. No ATVs, dirt bikes or electric scooters are allowed in the Huntley Park District parks. Please be aware that the use of such vehicles inside the parks will result in the police being notified and action taken. These vehicles disrupt the community and cause damage to our parks. We would like to keep our parks beautiful and peaceful and to maintain an atmosphere of relaxation for our guests. We appreciate your cooperation.

Lost Items
Personal items brought to the Huntley Park District are the responsibility of the individual. If something becomes lost, please check with the registration desk staff.

LEGO® Creativity Challenge
(Ages 7-12 without parent)
This is a fun & creative exercise for Lego fanatics – both veterans and newbies! Following the basic concepts of science and engineering, the participants will work with LEGO® Motorized Engineering kits to put to test their ingenuity and ability of creating different machines for problem solving. Besides they will have inspiration to design a machine of their choice, put it together, test it and then demonstrate the working of the model to all participants in the class.

Participates will also follow interactive instructions on PCs, create SAVs (Special Assault Vehicles) from LEGO® robotic construction kits and launch them in to combat, and carry out battle missions. They will work cooperatively sharing ideas with each other in an intellectually stimulating environment. There is great emphasis on expressing their ingenuity. Friendship Requests
NEW PROCEDURE STARTING WITH THE 2011-2012 BASKETBALL SEASON
The Huntley Park District would like to continue to provide the opportunity for players in our youth athletic leagues to make a friendship request to be paired on a team with one (and only one) other player in the league. Starting with the 2011-2012 Winter Basketball Season, Friendship Requests must now be completed in person at the registration desk at the REC Center. We will now be entering friendship requests into our registration software in order to better insure that requests are not missed, as was happening in a limited number of cases with the old separate form system. This will also help eliminate confusion with those who have submitted multiple requests in the past, as the registration system will only allow on registration per child under the Friendship Request code. For a friendship request to be complete, you must come in and register your child under the friendship request code and request a roster note be made listing the friend that you want to be paired with. That friend must then also come in and make a like request with your child’s name listed in the roster note of their friend request registration. Only once both players have registered under the friendship request code for their league with the other player listed under their roster note, will a friendship request be considered complete and valid. Friendship requests must still be completed by the registration deadline for the league. The Friendship Request code for registration forms is the first six digits of the program code followed by “-FR”. For example, the Friendship Request code for 3rd & 4th Grade Boys Baskeball would be 311637-FR.

Youth Competitive Wrestling Team — Jr. Red Raiders
(Grades K-8) The Huntley Jr. Red Raiders Competitive Wrestling Team is member of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation (IKWF). We believe wrestling is about goal setting and achievement. We expect our wrestlers to exercise discipline in practice, to compete with intensity and sportsmanship, and to respect their coaches and teammates at all times! We use wrestling as a tool to prepare our athletes, physically and mentally, for future success in life. We will provide the necessary tools for the pursuit of individual and team goals, enriching each wrestler’s growth as individuals, allowing them to develop the skill, attitude, and enthusiasm needed while maintaining the competitive hard working philosophy that is required to compete in the world’s oldest and toughest sport. Our 2011/2012 season will be held in our private 5,000 sq. ft. wrestling facility at Old School Wrestling Training Center (OSW). Our dedicated training center and our top tier coaching staff create a wrestling environment that will ensure your wrestler has the best opportunity to succeed. The Huntley Park District continually strives to reduce such risks and insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants’ safety. However, participants and parents/guardians of minors registering for these programs/activities must recognize that there is an inherent risk of injury when choosing to participate in recreational activities/programs. Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System and Warning System
The Huntley Park District recently installed a Lightning Prediction System and Warning System at Stingray Bay, Tomaso Sports Park and Deicke Park. Thor Guard is a prediction system that would warn patrons and staff about potential lightning up to a 10 mile radius. When this system detects high energy it will sound one-15 second blast and strobe lights will begin to flash. All outdoor activities should cease and all persons should seek shelter in a permanent building or vehicle immediately. DO NOT SEEK SHELTER WITHIN DUGOUTS, PICNIC PAVILIONS, OR NEAR TALL OBJECTS SUCH AS FENCES, TREES, ETC. The strobe light on the system will continue to flash while there is still potential for a lightning strike. Activities should not be resumed until the system has indicated the “all clear” with three – 5 second horn blasts and the strobe lights stop flashing.
