MASS MEDIA Mass Media basically refers to a part of media that is specifically designed to reach a large number of audience

. Following are the many types of Mass Media: - newsapaper - television - telephone, mobiles - radio - internet Mass media is any medium used to transmit mass communication. Until recently mass media was clearly defined and was comprised of the eight mass media industries; Books, Newspapers, Magazines, and Recordings, Radio, Movies, Television and The Internet. Mass media play a significant role in shaping public perceptions on a variety of important issues, both through the information that is dispensed through them, and through the interpretations they place upon this information.[15] They also play a large role in shaping modern culture, by selecting and portraying a particular set of beliefs, values, and traditions (an entire way of life), as reality.

Newspapers: Printed media usually distributed weekly or daily in the formof a folded book of papers. The publication is typically sectioned off based on subject and content. The most important or interesting news will be displayed on the frontpage of the publication. Newspapers may also includeadvertisements, opinions, entertainment and other generalinterest newsFor hundreds of years, newspapers have provided and preserved detailed records of topics, people, institutions, issues and events. Today, a wealth of credible local, regional, national and international newspaper coverage continues to provide people worldwide with access to the essential information they require every day. Consequently, newspaper archives remain among the most widely used resources in all types of libraries, according to usage statistics. Newspapers are the cheapest medium of information today. Also they are easily available to everybody. Newspapers are an important means of educating people. One of the fruits of the development of science is the Newspaper. This field has grown fast. It links the whole world. Those who read newspapers become well-informed about current affairs. The editorial page discusses important questions and problems of national and international importance. News is the combination of the first letters of the four directions-norths, east, west and south. The news-paper brings news from different parts of the world.The newspaper industry has developed to a great extent. News paper is the powerful medium of communication. Thus newspapers are useful for almost everyone.

Television (TV) : Television is one of the most important miracles of science. It has brought about a revolution in the field of entertainment, education and communication. Indeed mankind should be grateful to its inventor J.L.Baird who has brought the cinema and stage into the houses of the masses. One can now watch moving, talking and living pictures on the screen while sitting in one's home. while sitting in our homes, we can watch all kinds of programmes which are televised. Many educative and informative programmes can also be shown on the television which are of great help to the students and the masses. Television is especially very majority of the people are illiterate and live in the villages. The people can be imparted much information and education through the television programmes. Television is a way on improvement on the radio set, because now we can see the face of the speaker, whereas on the radio we could only here the voice of the speaker and could not see his face.

Telephone, Mobile Phone : An instrument that converts voice and other sound signals into a form that can be transmitted to remote locations and that receives and reconverts waves into sound signals. telephone helps us communicate in far distances. With the advance functions of the modern phone system, such as the VoIP, we can cost effectively contact people even in remote areas as long as connected to the internet. There are also functions such as call forwarding,call screening and many others that put ease in our way of communicating. Cell phones are having a great influence in our live and are very convenient to keep with us. Cell phones are a faster and more effective way to transfer information. Indeed, it is a resource that gives its user's great advantages. Nothing more than a cell phone comes to great help in emergency. If you're a net-savvy, you can have Internet handy all the time and anywhere the signal of your cell phone provider can reach.It can be part of fashion and styling. Nowadays, cell phones are not just phone calls; they're about messaging, vidoe, songs, games, alarm clock, notes, calendar, reminder, etc. So one equipment, lots' of uses! Radio

The radio is used in many different ways. It mainly used for communication purposes. Electronic Communications is neccesery for modern life. Many people use the radio for listening to music to see what’s the latest songs and music groups. They can use them to listen to what the weather is for that day and other news that’s happening around the world. Soldiers and people also use them in wars because the people have to know what's going on if there not watching the television. They were also used in wars when there was no television. They can also use them on ships and planes in so the people know that there doing all right. They also can judge the food restaurants and you can enter contests to win good prizes like concert tickets, money, cars etc.There is also commercials that play on the radio in between thrir break. The radio is used in many different ways. Internet :The Internet has modified the distribution of information. The Internet has been viewed as a revolutionary advance in technology with a greater impact on information exchange than both the telephone and television combined. Accompanying this change in information exchange comes a variety of individual interpretations regarding what this new technology means. As an emerging human occupation, Internet usage warrants further study and investigation. This phenomenological study sought to identify personal meaning of Internet usage for seven adult participants. The internet is computer based global information system. It is composed of many interconnected computer networks. Each network may link thousands of computers enabling them to share information. The internet has brought a transformation in many aspects of life. It is one of the biggest contributors in making the world into a global village. Use of internet has grown tremendously since it was introduced. It is mostly because of its flexibility. Nowadays one can access the internet easily. Most people have computers in their homes but even the ones who don?t they can always go to cyber cafes where this service is provided The internet has developed to give many benefits to mankind. The access to information being one of the most important. Student can now have access to libraries around the world. Some charge a fee but most provide free services. Before students had to spend hours and hours in the libraries but now at the touch of a button students have a huge database in front of them. T
