Sam Chatman Bank Robberies Upper West Side Gambling Bank Robber Sought By FBI in Upper West Side

Bank Robberies The FBI is looking for a bank robber who frequents casinos in connection with two Upper West Side Chase Bank robberies. By Kareem Johnson DNAinfo Reporter/Producer UPPER WEST SIDE A gambling bank robber is on the loose. Sam Chatman, 54, who has a love for casinos according to the FBI, allegedly robbed two Upper West Side Chase Bank branches in June and July at gunpoint. Authorities have said that Chatman should be considered armed and dangerous. The FBI describes Chatman as 5 7 to 5 9 and 200lbs. Chatman allegedly held up the Chase Bank at 2438 Broadway on June 18, and the Chase Bank at 2824 Broadway on July 27. In both robberies, he used a semiautomatic handgun FBI press officer Adrienne Senatore said. Senatore said there were no injuries in either robbery. The FBI hasn t disclosed the amount of money taken in both robberies. Chatman s behavior is not only increasingly violent, but completely erratic, said Supervisory Special Agent Barbara Daly. Daly urged the public to contact the tip line with any information they may have. The FBI is offering a reward for a tip that could help nab Chapman. Tips can be given anonymously at 212-384-1000.
