Walter Bowart was born in Omaha, Nebraska,in 1939. He was awarded a McMahon journal-ism scholarship to the University of Oklahomaand has since worked as an editor, publisherand writer. His articles have appeared in many journals including
 The East Village Other,
 theunderground newspaper which he founded in
1 9 6 5 .
Walter Bowart lives in Tucson, Arizona,with his wife and three children.
