Thank you, God, for the dignity and beauty of self. The precious, innate self.

The only thing that can’t be taken from us. The only thing we really own. Not selfishness. Not self-seeking, self-will self-gain. But the wonder of being, simply being-oneself. God-created, God watched, God known. Accountable, actually, only to you who made us. Shaped each of us outwardly so much alike, and yet made each of us different in the vital, secret self. You, who expect of each of us different things. You alone can go all the way with us. Take the final journey with us, and be there when we arrive. You will ask the final accounting of this self and its mission upon the earth. In knowing you I need no longer question, “Who am I?” I know. Insofar as it is possible, I know. Through you I know the true dignity, worth and beauty of my own being. For whatever my failings, I am a part of you who made me. In knowing you, I know myself. Gems of Life Lyra Erika Liclican
