INITIATIVE TO RECYCLE

Nokia believes that it s their responsibility to make it as easy as possible to recycle mobile devices that are no longer in use. Recycling is needed as it prevents extraction and refining of material for new products, saving energy, chemicals and waste. It organised awareness campaigns in which it encouraged mobile phone users to recycle their old handsets and accessories, regardless of the brand, and promised to plant a tree for every phone dropped during the campaign period

Eco-friendly devices

Nokia High Efficiency Charger AC-8 and Compact Travel Charger AC-15 let you charge your battery fast and with a clear concience. Both have reduced no-load power consumption, using only 10% of the power that conventional chargers use when left in the socket after phone is fully charged.

LIFE CYCLE THINKING

Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool we use for calculating the environmental impacts, the energy use and greenhouse gas emissions of our products and processes. The calculations include the entire mobile device life cycle, from raw material acquisition to the end of life of the product. The total energy consumption for creating, using and recycling a typical Nokia mobile device is 270 MJ and emissions are 17,5 kg C02e. This equals 170 km driven with a hybrid car.

TIE UP WITH ECO-ORGANISATIONS

WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature TERI(The Energy and Resources Institute) Nokia India has been cooperating with TERI for various eco-programs. To know more about the engagements.
