Rob Wittman Cancels Debate at Local High School
Wittman Refuses to Debate with Ball on Stage

Fredericksburg, VA- September 29, 2010 – Today, Congressman Robb Wittman canceled a previously scheduled debate at Forest Park High School with his reform minded challenger Krystal Ball. Mr. Wittman’s campaign said he would not answer questions with Mrs. Ball on stage with him, and that he would only take question either before or after Ball. Shannon Geraghty, the teacher at Forest Park High School and responsible for organizing the event remarked, “It is so disappointing that when we try to engage our government officials, like Mr. Wittman, they are not open to discuss the issues.” She went on to say, “As a teacher of Government, I was hoping to show our students that the free exchange of ideas is what makes this Democracy great. Unfortunately, we can not achieve that this year.”

The High School has been holding debates for the last three years running, and this would be the first year they wouldn’t be able to hold the event.

Krystal Ball commented, “Mr. Wittman is doing everything possible to back out of having to answer for voting against veterans, 9/11 first responders, and seniors.” She went on to say, “So now his ego has grown so big that he will deprive high school students of the chance to experience democracy at its best.”

A lifelong Virginian who was raised in King George County, Krystal Ball is a graduate of the University of Virginia. She is a small business owner and a Certified Public Accountant.
