3rd grade – We learned about types of sentences, telling time to the nearest half hour, and measuring to the nearest inch. 4th grade – We learned about types of sentences, sentence fragments, surveys, and adding multiples of 10 using mental math. Science – We learned about ecosystems and environment, and did two experiments. History – We learned about Christopher Columbus, and John Smith. Bible – We started our memory work. We also talked about the days of creation, God’s perfect plan at the beginning of the world, and Adam and Eve’s fellowship with God in the garden of Eden.

Spelling test on Friday Please fill out and return the student information card that is being sent home today. If you have internet, be sure to check out for spelling practice and drill. Forms are going home today for Highlights magazine. Please sign and return them whether you decide to order the magazine or not. Our classroom can receive free stuff if we get enough slips returned! Bible test dates are: o Song 9-26-11 o Catechism 9-28-11 o Scripture 10-4-11

Incorporate math into your child’s everyday life. Show them how practical learning math really is. Reinforce elapsed time by asking your child to tell you what time it will be one hour later, how long it will take to complete a task that will end at a certain time, etc.. Make a recipe together. This reinforces concepts such as fractions, and capacity. Build something. Measurements and angles are both important lessons to be learned.
