Running head: IMMIGRATION FOR THOUGHT

Abstract Illegal immigration has been growing concern for all Americans. We live in a society; we have illegal immigration that is taking away our jobs, which is a big problem of putting Americans back to work. In this assignment, I will give you an actual work place that has a lot immigrants working there, but very little Americans that are looking for work, and can’t find work. We live in a society when the employers will take advantage of the tax credit from the federal government for hiring practices, which may be on welfare and put back to work, or came here from another country. Do not get me wrong. Firmly believe that everyone should have a right to come to the United States as long as they apply for political asylum.

Immigration for thought We have a growing problem in our society, a society filled with illegal immigration, which this is a growing problem here in the United States. Do not get me wrong. Firmly believe they should be able to come to the United States; if they apply for political asylum. If anyone of one us should decide to go to another country; we will need a passport to be able to go to that country. Why can’t they do the exact same thing? On September 2, 2011; I went to Crete, Nebraska; to visit a customer, and I could not believe the immigrants they have there. There were more immigrants than there was Americans. By no means, this is not to sound like I am against them being in the United States. We have a problem in our society of having Americans not working. Another example; just right after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans; there were several illegal immigrants helping New Orleans get back on their feet. Again, what if we put Americans to work, instead of illegal immigrants? At least, if we have Americans working, there will be taxes taken out of their wages. Immigrants do not pay any taxes for a period of 5 years, while they live in the United States, and after the 5 year period; they can apply for political asylum, or go back to their country. The illegal immigrants work on farms, were there is no taxes taken out of their wages. Taxes being withheld go to help the United States; not only is it helpful for America; but it is the law. According to the author, Voice of America reported. On November 10, 2005 reported that there were illegal immigrants taken over many reconstruction jobs in New Orleans after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina (Voice of America, 2005). As an American, I am appalled that we have illegal immigrants that are not US Citizens working in the United States making a substantial amount of money in one day; so they can take it back to their country. Have to ask you; is this constitutional. We have to stand up for our jobs in America.

Illegal Immigration is not only hurting our jobs, but it is against the law. Who is responsible? Who needs to be held accountable for allowing illegal immigrants in the United States? These illegal immigrants were working on roof tops. Why can’t we put Americans to work? The city of New Orleans was plagued with Mexican, and Central American laborers; this also came from the Mayor of New Orleans as well. The point is, if we allow unpaid taxes from workers to come into the United States, and take advantage of it. How well off are we? No wonder, there a lot of unpaid taxes being paid in. The exact number is uncertain to me. In closing, this assignment is not point the finger at one culture, but to raise the awareness to the problem we are experiencing. Unless, we as Americans need to stand up fight for our rights, there will not be any rights left for us. Where do you stand on this?
