Performance Directions for Machinations:


The performers should be arrayed as follows:

Piano
Cor Anglais
Violin

Cello
Piccolo

If possible, the perfomers should wear blank, white masks. When this piece is
performed, the performers names should not appear in the programme. Ideally, notes
for this piece should appear in a separate booklet, containing only programme notes,
and nothing to identify the performers or composer.
The performers should not acknowledge any applause they may receive after the
piece, nor should any credit be given by them or any other party to anyone involved in
the performance, or to the composer. This may be mentioned in the programme notes,
so that the performers themselves do not offend their audience.
This is because, at the end of the piece, the performers should have spiritually died
with Golem, or at least pretend to.
