Heimlich MD <hjheimlich@Fuse.net> Peter, It has been brought to my attention that you have made your entire mission in life to disprove and discredit anything having to do with your father and I will not get involved in any of your personal family drama. You don't and won't intimidate me!

I am simply trying to empower anyone that has a hand on a child with basic life saving skills so they can sustain a life until help arrives. Don't over analyze my mission, it's simple, realistic and obtainable. My daughter survived a near drowning incident thanks to my husband's "optional" education in CPR and the Heimlich! He used both maneuvers and effectively removed 80% of the fluid from her body before being admitted to ICU. I witnessed my child come back to life and it was the most powerful experience I have ever had. It changed my life and I am dedicated to making sure that people are at least as educated as my husband and I were regardless of their demographics or socioeconomic status.

I used certified teaching instructors from both The Red Cross and The American Heart Association during my workshops. We do not tell anyone to use the Heimlich in accordance with a drowning but we do provide them with an education so that if the time arrives they can make their own educated decision on how to handle the crises they are in. My resources and instructional video are currently considered works in progress and will be available to the public at the end of September with a stamp of approval from the American Academy of Pediatrics.

It's incredibly sad that your father pioneered something that has saved countless lives and you can't recognize that it is here to stay no matter how many variations or interpretations spin off from his original medical phenomenon. It's in the dictionary!!!! I liken it to the Bible, people read it and take what they want from it, change the words and then make their own version like the King James version vs. The New American Standard version. The Red Cross has their interpretation and so does the American Heart Association whether it's coined back slaps or abdominal thrusts.

I will follow this e-mail with a streamline of our recent Today Show footage and you see what you think about our teaching style-
