What is Knowledge Sharing System?


The systems that enable members of an organization to acquire tacit and explicit knowledge from each other. The Knowledge sharing system may also be viewed as knowledge markets.

Mechanism for Knowledge Sharing:

Old Mechanism: Telegraph, Telephone and Written letters New Mechanism: Computer Internet and Intranet

Computer as a medium for sharing knowledge

The internet enables the secure transport of information packets. The internet provides a large-scale storage of documents. WWW servers are the computers whose main objectives are to serve as repositories of multimedia information. The server share their contents to their clients through web pages.

Designing the Knowledge Sharing System


Collection and systematic organization of information from various sources. KSS must take the advantage of explicit organisational information and data. (i.e.. focus on explicit knowledge) KSS should concentrate on capturing the knowledge from organisational members through feedback system Integration into existing environment. Active presentation of relevant information to users.
