PL report for exco meeting on 5.9.

RT and I met with DP representatives to discuss way forward on preparation work for
election of CE. It was decided to change the open seminar originally penciled in for
19th Sept into a closed door meeting with other democrats who will be interested to
take part. I have contacted Civic Exchange, Human Rights Monitor, Frontier as
directed and DP is supposed to contact Rev Chu and Dr Shih’s outfit.
It is also agreed that we would contact different groups to seek views on universal
suffrage and on issues which concern their sector. I will report on this verbally.
Since CP will be expected to take part in the coming election committee election and
the CE election next year, exco have to discuss how to proceed on matters like how to
choose a candidate, how to co-operate with other democrats, how to handle media
strategy, platform, campaigning, team of support, finances etc.
For the coming legco, my assistants have held a discussion with other assistants and
propose a programme for co-ordination as annexed.
Also for the coming legco, it was previously agreed before the recent proposal on
focus focus and focus that the 6 legislators should share out the workload of all the
areas of legco work. But this is proving really too much for some of us to handle.
Please see the enclosed summary. So far we have not been able to find a person for
manpower.
I have asked Fung to have a list of those who are eligible to run in the coming election
committee as CP need to consider if we should have our own list for the election
committee in addition to supporting other lists.
