6-8 World History Chapter 3.

3: Native Americans of North America Projects Now that you have learned a little bit about the Native American groups in North America, we will take a little time to recreate the artwork these groups were known for. Your assignment is to create a factual reproduction of a Native North American culture item You may select a project from the following list: 1. Create a totem pole similar to those found in the Northwest 2. Hold a potlatch for your classmates 3. Create a kachina mask or doll 4. Fabricate a Lakota winter count 5. Recreate a scaled model of a Iroquois longhouse/Puebo house 6. Come up with a project of your own! All projects must be historical reproductions, not modern day adaptations. For instance, don't create a longhouse with vinyl siding and an air-conditioning unit. All projects will also need to be accompanied by a 1-page paper that will describe their project as it was in real life and how you made it. To help you with your paper, make sure you answer: 1. What is your project? 2. Which Native American group made your project? 3. How did Native Americans make my project? 4. Why did they make them/what were they used for? 5. How did you make your own project? Your project will have check-ins. Your first check in is tomorrow. Refer to the calendar for the rest of your check-ins. The final paper is due Thursday, October 6 and the project is due Friday, October7. Project Calendar
