MAP INTERNATIONAL RELIEF RESPONSE

Summer 2011 Horn of Africa:

MAP dispatched 2 Interagency Emergency Health Kits (IEHKs)* to International Medical Corps in Kenya and Somalia. Two more IEHKs are in the planning stages. Provided emergency support to communities in program areas in Kenya and Uganda affected by the drought. In NE Uganda the MAP team is engaged in a year-long response to provide food security and nutritional support to 22 villages which are at high risk due to the famine. Sent teams to the Dadaab camp on the Kenya-Somalia border to assess ways MAP can be involved in relief efforts through partnerships and medical shipments.

Libya:
• • MAP shipped a container with medicines and supplies valued at 3.1 million dollars to Benghazi, Libya. Shipped 3 IEHKs*, 30,000 water purification tablets, and 55 MAP Travel Packs® to the Libya region.
