-Interviews with masters of Bodens Tipplers in the UK(Held on September 24th, 2011 at 21:00 GMT with Mr.

Mike Camplin and 21:30 GMT with Mr. Paul Bowden directly by phone from Israel) Short introduction: As a Tipplerman who is breeding Tipplers since 1976 and having its second largest and oldest Yahoo group called Tippler-Chat, since 2004 with its 94 strong worldwide membership, as well as the biggest Face Book Tipplers group/page English Flying Tipplers-TIPPLERS INTERNATIONAL with total of over 350 members we have had discussion about Bodens birds lately. Since there were too many contradictory opinions and/or information I suggested to make short questioner and promised to call both UK Tipplers gentlemen on mine and their behalf to ask those questions. I spoke briefly with both of them for about 20 minutes each and finally promised to send them copy by air-mail of their interviews as follow: Q: When did you first start with Tipplers in general? A/M. Camplin: 42 yrs. Ago A/P. Bowden: 50 yrs. Ago when I was 8 yrs. Old Q: When did you start with Bodens birds? A/M. Camplin: 1957 A/P. Bowden: 1971 Q: Who bought Bodens birds after Jack Boden died? A/M. Camplin: Myself and Mr. Paul Bowden A/P. Bowden: Me and Mike Camplin. At the time Jack Boden died, with birds I purchased after his death, I had about 50 of his original birds. On my question if he had been were ever neighborhood with late Jack Boden he answered negative and add that they were just good friends! Q: How many official results you had until now and whats your biggest achievement/s so far? A/M. Camplin: I have 36 results of over 19 hrs. and 4 results of over 20 hrs. and my best was 20:12 hrs. but dont remember when it was! Find it in the NTU Newsletters! A/P. Bowden: My best results were 20:01 hrs. with O/B back to 1998 and 17:05 hrs. with Y/B back to 1987!

Q: How many pairs you have in your breeding section and how do you breed? Best to best, lining system or any particular genetic scheme? A/M. Camplin: I keep 12 pairs in my breeding section and I breed only Best to Best! A/P. Bowden: Mostly best to best but also close breeding i.e. granddaughter to grandfather and grandson to grandmother. I breed 12 pairs in my stock! Q: Since you have Bodens only did you add any other birds/strain in your cage and if yes from whom? A/M. Camplin: Nobody ever! A/P. Bowden: Never crossed anything beside my pure Bodens! Q: How many other UK Tipplermen, to the best of your knowledge, still keep Bodens today inside the NTU-beside both of you? A/M. Camplin: Id say about 10 more members. Mostly have their Bodens from me and Mr. Paul Bowden. A/P. Bowden: 10 maximum in the NTU and very few of them have their descendents from the original Jack Bodens birds. Most of them mine and Mikes birds. Q: We heard pigeons rumors about great Bodens thefts in the UK from the major fanciers as yourself. How true they are and if there are any suspects and/or leads to anywhere? A/M.Camplin: Unfortunately they are true! Murphys birds were stolen; Paul Bowdens as well as mine twice, but not many of my stock birds were taken! NO LEADS!!! A/P. Bowden: Yes my birds were stolen, whole breeding stock and I had to take my flying section to make from them again breeding stock. I also heard about Mr. Weathers birds that were taken. Q: What would be your description of Bodens strain i.e. how to recognize it in the hand and by eye, what differs it from the other? A/M. Camplin: Experienced breeder will see it right away who is Boden and whos not but Id say proper shape typical for any Bodens bird, medium

weight, and long bird. Typical colors are blue, grays, white mottled and white tales but not necessary. A/P. Bowden: Id say wings quality and feathers good coverage, medium weight, bigger, long birds. About colors it goes blue, grays, dunes, white tales and white chicks.
