Source: Massachusetts Division of Health Care Finance and Policy, May 2011 Key Indicators Report. Numbers may not add due to rounding. *Massachusetts DHCFP Key Indicators report categorizes Medical Security Plan and Commonwealth Care Bridge as “private”. For this analysis we counted them as “public” since most funding for such coverage comes from public sources. Commonwealth Care Bridge enrollment was taken out of “private individual” and Medical Security Plan enrollment was taken both from “private group” and “private individual,” based on assuming the historical proportion of 1/3 MSP enrollment in premium assistance (“private group”) and 2/3 MSP enrollment in direct coverage (“private individual”). **MassHealth excludes enrollees with other primary coverage (e.g., employer-sponsored coverage) or partial coverage (i.e., MassHealth Limited) as those with employer-sponsored coverage are already counted under private group.
