University Requirements General Education Aims to empower learners to question, evaluate, discover and construct knowledge on their own.
Two broad Subject Groups : Science & Technology Humanities and Social Sciences Singapore Studies Aim to raise a students awareness of the various aspects of Singapore : its geography and history, its society and economy, its politics and international relations.

Curriculum Structure

Major Requirements Aim to prepare students for graduate studies and research in their chosen subject area, and for careers that call for specialized knowledge of the subject. Two types of modules : Essential Modules Elective Modules Faculties / School Requirements Aim to provide the overall breadth of knowledge. They supplement the Major Requirements, focusing on the general aspects of knowledge and abilities expected of graduates from a particular Faculty / School.

TWO students who have been selected for the joint MBBS-PhD programme offered by the National University of Singapore are: Miss Grace Ng, 24 She has a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree with first-class honours. She hopes to set up a research lab and plans to focus on genetic engineering.

Application Procedures
Mid-February: Applications invited from Polytechnic diploma holders Mid-March : Application closes for July academic year intake March: Applications invited from Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level students April 1: Application closes for July academic year intake

May: Notification to sit for test and/or attend interview for applicants to medicine, dentistry, law and architecture

June: Notification of admission. July: Qualifying English Test Matriculation and registration of courses

Minimum Entry Requirements


Holders of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level certificate must: Have passes in at least 2 A level subjects at one sitting, have taken GP at the same sitting, and have taken a mother tongue paper Have a minimum of C6 in English (as a first language) taken at the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O level examination Have taken the SAT I at one sitting in the five years leading up to 1 April of the year of application Meet the requirements of the courses to which they wish to gain admission

In addition to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level certificate or a diploma from a polytechnic in Singapore, the following will be considered : SAT I score Co-curricular activities (CCA) bonus points National Service bonus points Outstanding singular talents Experience /motivation (mature applicants)

JC / CI Applicants
Applicants, regardless of nationality, applying with only the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level certificate. Admission criteria : GCE A levels SAT I CCA and NS 75 % 25 % up to 5 bonus points

Exceptional students with outstanding singular talents and borderline cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Application is made online

JC / CI Applicants 2005 Onwards


Applicants, regardless of nationality, applying with only the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A level certificate. Admission criteria : GCE A levels SAT I Project Work CCA and NS 65 % 25 % 10 % up to 5 bonus points

Exceptional students with outstanding singular talents and borderline cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Application is made online

SAT I
Your best SAT I score in the five years leading up to 1 April of the year of application will be taken into account. Combining the verbal and maths scores from different sittings is not allowed. SAT I scores must be submitted by the application deadline. See www.cta.com.sg and www.collegeboard.com for test dates and registration deadlines

CCA & NS Bonus Points


CCA and NS together can contribute a total of 5 bonus points. Out of the these 5 bonus points, NS can contribute only a maximum of 2 bonus points. NS points will be considered for applicants who have served NS for at least 2 years. Applicants not awarded with any NS points, may still apply for university admission.

MOE Tuition Grant


What is the MOE Tuition Grant? International students must work for a company registered in Singapore for three years after graduation.
