STAMP Oh! MANIA Welcome

Kathy Berger has been operating Stamp Oh! Mania as a manufacturing and catalog sales business since October 1995. Many changes have come about during Kathys time with the company, including this new catalog. Stamp Oh! Mania continues to add new images and strives to continually improve the quality of the product. Stamp Oh! Mania is now producing many of its images on deeply etched magnesium plates, providing deeper rubber with greater detail. All images are trimmed as closely as possible to ensure the best image possible. Stamp Oh! Mania stamps are mounted exclusively with gray foam that has been permeated with adhesive to guarantee long lasting mounts. And Stamp Oh! Mania uses only the highest quality red rubber. Stamp Oh! Mania hand-crafts each stamp as a work of art and stands behind its product. If you are unsatisfied with any Stamp Oh! Mania stamp, please return it for an exchange, no questions asked! Stamp Oh! Mania continues to offer a liberal policy for use of its images. Stamp Oh! Mania images may be used for any purpose (even commercial) as long as they are HAND STAMPED. (This applies to all of the images in this catalog EXCEPT for the Longaberger basket images. Those images are copyrighted by Longaberger, and permission for their COMMERCIAL use must be granted by Longaberger.). We also allow MECHANICAL reproduction of our images for NON-COMMERCIAL uses at any size EXCEPT 100%. If you have a favorite stamp store that you would like to see carry the Stamp Oh! Mania line, drop us a note and well send them wholesale buying information. If you are the first to send us their name AND they start carrying Stamp Oh! This dog is great sitting in a wagon (9525-h) for a Bon Voyage (1340-e) card. He is also fun sitting next to the mailbox (9524-g) with some bones (2140-a) coming out of the box. Or try covering him with flocking and giving him a pompom for a nose. Stamp some hearts near him. Then add a message cloud (1140-g) with a hand written WOOF YOU!.

Dogs are terrific as part of a stamped scene. Stamp the barking dog in a garden. Try the howling dog on a black card with a full moon (use a circle stencil and color with glue or embossing ink) embossed with glow in the dark powder. The stencil paw prints are terrific as a border. Be sure to stamp some on the envelope too! 9533-h

It is really easy to produce a cow spot background using the large splot side of the two sided texture stamp (5020-f). Ink the stamp with black ink and stamp on your card. Give the stamp a little bit of a twist before lifting off your paper. Repeat randomly to cover paper. The flying animals look great jumping over fences or the moon. But they can also look like theyre lying down if you put them on the right background. Or put them on sticks to make carousel animals.

9827-h The Bear Rattle is great for making wrapping paper for a baby shower gift. Stamp it randomly in pastel colors on yellow gift wrap. Check out discount stores for inexpensive wrapping paper in solid colors and use it as a base for personalized gift wrap. It is much more economical than buying special stamping papers.! Try making your own gift bags. Iron together inexpensive gift wrap and freezer paper. Form the bag by folding the paper around a box. Use a sturdy glue to hold the seams in place. Add ribbon or yarn handles.

1445-h

The baby quilt makes a great background onto which other stamps can be mounted. It is also very nice used alone as the front of a baby announcement. But however you use it, Im sure youll agree that half the fun is coloring it! Try coloring alternating squares for a checkerboard look, alternate rows and columns for a gingham effect, or random squares for a crazy quilt. Try adding patterns like tiny hearts, stripes, or dots to some of the squares. How about coloring in red, white, and blue with little stars for Independence Day? Or red and green for Christmas. 9730-h

These stamps resulted from my daughters fourth grade class trip to Sutters Fort in Sacramento, CA. The children were immersed in history for several weeks prior to their day and night at the fort. They became people who lived at the fort in the year 1848, learning about the lives and travels of their characters. They dressed in period clothing and lived like the pioneers for a day and night. They even got to ride in a real Calistoga wagon! It was an experience none of us will ever forget.

For a really fun get well card stamp the map and layer onto a card. Over stamp with a road (9829-e) in black ink. Add a car (7285-d) and Hope youre on the roadto recovery (9828-d). Dry Creek Map ca14-h

In its traditional parades filled with dragons and lions, this holiday is known for children carrying lanterns and for the setting off of thousands of firecrackers. These animals are the hare, goat or sheep, rat, horse, dog, pig, snake, rooster, monkey, dragon, tiger, and ox.

One of my favorite projects that I made with my daughter when she was about five was a mobile. It was made using the flying angel, but any of the angels would have worked. We stamped several angels onto text weight paper, colored them, and added a touch of glitter to their wings. Then we bubble cut around the angels, with a second piece of text weight paper behind the first, so we had identically shaped front and a back pieces. We glued the two pieces together around the edges, leaving just a little gap for us to use to insert dome stuffing. We added a little fiberfill inside our paper angels to give them some dimension. Then we glued close the little gap. We punched tiny holes into the angels and strung them with fishing line. We tied them to clear drinking straws, and balanced them so they would fly straight. My daughter still has her angels watching over her room, years later!

Kathys Kritters
These little Kritters are super for a child who loves sports. Make a picture frame for a treasured team picture. Form the frame out of PaperClay. Start with a rectangle of the clay. Cut a rectangular or oval shape from the center a little smaller than the photograph. Gently press a piece of cardboard cut to the size of the photograph into the clay , hard enough to leave an impression which will later hold the photograph and a piece of glass. Use a loop of masking tape to lift the cardboard out. Let the frame dry. On a separate piece of clay rolled to about 1/8 thick, stamp the critter with pigment ink. Cut out close to the outline of the Kritter. Let dry and color with color pencils. Glue to bottom left corner of the frame. Varnish the frame. Add glass and photograph. Glue on a paper backing.

This music makes a wonderful background or an element in a collage. But it is also is great as the main image for a card. Emboss the music with gold detail embossing powder on a dark card. I used it to make note cards for my daughters favorite music teacher. I used cream card stock and stamped the music with vanilla ink. I stamped Just a Note on the inside in the same ink. It was a BIG hit!

Nature
A pergamano technique is very effective with these images. Emboss the image on the front of a piece of vellum. Color the image on the back side with markers. With the right side up, place the image on a piece of felt or fun foam. With a ball stylus, carefully trace around the outside edges of the image. Use decorative edge scissors to cut a rectangle around the image. Mount on a card.

Pastel chalks are a wonderful way to color these images. Stamp the image in black ink. Color the shadowed edge with the chalk and smudge the color into the rest of the image. Use at least two shades of the same color or add a contrasting color to add realism. Remember that fruits ripen unevenly! Spray with a fixative to prevent smudging.

STAMP Oh! MANIA Splongee Tool

2005 Catalog

Make a simple tool for creating fabulous backgrounds. Make a bundle of about 25 rubber bands. Try a variety of widths, or stick with just one. Different combinations will make a subtle difference in stamping. Tightly tie the bundle with another rubber band. Trim off the loop ends of the bands with a sharp pair of scissors. Ink the ends on a stamp pad as you would a stamp. Stamp repeatedly onto paper. Re-ink as needed. I call this tool a Splongee because that is what my daughter named it when she was 4 years old! Stamping with a Splongee was a fun thing to do with her, and gave me great background paper, too! Try tone on tone techniques, use a single color, or stamp a rainbow.. Stamp lightly, or repeatedly for heavier coverage. Youll be amazed at the different backgrounds you can create!

Faux Shadow Stamps

To make a perfectly sized shadow stamp for any of your stamps, cut a piece of white craft foam to the size of your mount. Trim it just a little smaller than the block using either deckle edge or straight scissors. Mount onto the back of your stamp using double sided tape. You can ink and stamp as you would with any stamp, Play with the shadow by inking more heavily around the edges, or only on the edges. 92

2005 Catalog You can make the edge more interesting by taking out some small nicks or by making it a bit wavy. Craft foam shapes can also be used to create interesting shadows. Think about shapes you can cut with your die cut machine!

Ink the rubber side of the large stamp with your main ink color. Stamp in the center of the shadow. Ink the rubber side of the saying stamp with the main ink color. Stamp centered in the white space below the shadow. Using stipple or stencil brush or makeup sponge and accent color, add a touch of color to stamped main image. Remember, you arent trying to color it in fully, just adding a sense of that color. Glue bow to lower right corner of the shadow.

Place a rectangular self-adhesive note on a card at an angle so that it all fits on the card, and so the corners are close to the edges, but not touching them. Stamp repeatedly around the card, stamping both onto the note and off the edge. This will form a frame. Stipple or sponge a little color over the stamped images, all along the edges of the post-it note so that the ink will form a line. Take the self-adhesive note off the center of the card, but line it up so the bottom edge of the note is at the top edge of the center rectangle. . Ink and stamp an image 3 times inside the frame, but make one of the images trail off the top edge onto the adhesive note. Attach a bow on the lower right corner of the front of the central rectangle.

Stamp a large image in the center of the card. Stipple or sponge an accent color onto the image to add interest. Place a square self-adhesive note over the stamped image at an angle, covering as much of the image as possible, but making sure the note fits entirely on the card. Splongee the main color all over the front of the card, making sure to go over the edges of the note. Splongee with the accent color all over the front of the card, filling in any light areas. Glue on the bow centered on the bottom of the square masked area, just below the mask.

Stipple or sponge an accent color all over the front of the card and the right inside side of the card. Using a craft knife and ruler cut a horizontal slit all the way across the front of the card just a little above the center of the card. Remove the top portion of the card by cutting from the slit you made to the top of the card at the fold. Set aside. Open the card. Apply glue along the bottom and left edge of the front-inside of the card. Close the card. A pocket will be formed by the front of the card. Stamp an image centered on the front of the pocket. Set card aside. On the blank side of the piece of card removed from the front of the card, stamp a small image repeatedly around the outside edge of the card, forming a border. Stamp a saying, centered on the card. Apply accent color with stipple/stencil brush or makeup sponge as desired. Insert the saying card into the pocket at an angle so that part of it is visible.

Turn the card so the fold is at the top. Ink a long shadow stamp between each stamping and stamp an interesting grid onto the card. Use the card at right as a guide. Stamp a large stamp 4 times, but only ink it one time: with the main color, ink your stamp well. Stamp it in the upper left part of the grid. Without reinking, stamp it off the edges of each of the corners, except the top left one, varying slightly the amount of the image that is stamped on the card. Attach a matching bow to the bottom center of the card.

Open the card so that the inside of the card is showing. Splongee all over the inside left panel of the card with the accent color, and sponge or stipple color all over the inside right inside panel. Close the card. Stamp the image repeatedly all over the front panel of the card. Use the sponge or stipple brush to add some of the accent color to the images. Open the card again., this time with the front of the card showing. With your ruler and craft knife, cut a diagonal line from the top at the fold to the bottom far right corner of the front. This will make the front of the card a big triangle. Line up the piece that was just removed on the front just like it was before you removed it. Then grab the point at the lower right. Lift up and away from you, like you were opening a top-bound spiral notebook. When it is all the way up, it will be in the correct orientation. Glue it to the bottom right corner of the inside of the card.) Add embellishments to the top of the card so that they fit into the little triangle formed when the card is closed. Attach a bow to the front of the card very close to the point where the triangles all meet. Stamp a saying stamp inside the front of the card along the cut edge.

Turn the card so the fold is at the top. Place a piece of scrap paper across your card at a random angle, making sure the paper extends fully across your card and off the edges. Stipple or sponge ink in onto the card along the edge of the piece of scrap paper, making the color darkest along the paper, but fading out away from the paper. Change the angle of the paper and repeat the stippling/sponging process. Continue changing the angle and stippling/sponging color until there is a pleasing pattern of lines and shaded areas. Using the scrap paper close to the edges of the card, stipple/sponge a border. Stamp a large imageslightly off center toward the top left. Affix a bow to the lower right part of the card.

Hold the card so the fold is at the top. With your ruler and pencil, lightly draw a straight line across the card about an inch and a quarter from the bottom. Cut along that line with deckle scissors on the front of the card only. Using the DTP method, color the piece of card stock that was just cut off. Stamp a saying centered on this piece of card stock. Glue this piece along the edge of the back of the card. Ink the shadow side of the small stamp. Stamp it centered on the remainder of the front of the card. Ink it again and stamp the shadow to the right of the other shadow, centered horizontally. Repeat to the left of the center shadow. Stamp a small image over the each shadow. Attach a small bow to the bottom right corner of the card.

(NOTE: THIS IS NOT A STANDARD SIZED CARD!) Score a 4 1/4 x 11 strip of card stock at the half-way point (5 1/2) and fold to form a card (it is the same size as a standard card but folds on the short side instead of the long). Open the card. Using the craft knife cut a 1 1/4 wide strip off the front of the card, leaving the front 4 1/4 square. Cut the strip you just removed to 1 x 5 1/4 by removing 1/4 from both the length and the height. Apply color to the strip using the DTP technique. Stamp a saying stamp centered on the strip in the main color. Glue the strip centered in the area of the inside of the back of the card that was exposed by cutting off the strip. Stamp a large square shadow centered on the front of the card. Stamp a large image centered on the shadow. Attach a bow on the lower right corner of the front of the card.
