Toronto, June 1, 2011 TVOs flagship current affairs program, The Agenda with Steve Paikin, will be at the Waterloo Global Science Initiatives inaugural Equinox Summit: Energy 2030 conference in Waterloo to broadcast five programs exploring energy issues today and in the future. Climate change. Peak oil. A rapidly growing population How will our world be affected by these challenges 20 years from now? How can we use cutting-edge technologies to create a cleaner, more sustainable energy future? The Equinox Summit: Energy 2030, to be held in Waterloo June 5 to 9, will gather the worlds foremost science experts and industry leaders around these questions. As presenting media partner, TVO will be there to engage Ontarians in this important global conversation. From Monday June 6 to Friday June 10 at 8 pm, The Agenda with Steve Paikin will present a week of on-location broadcasts from the Mike Lazaridis Theatre of Ideas at Canadas Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Each program will feature energy experts who will discuss and debate todays big energy questions. Guests will be announced the day of the event. Program schedule: Monday, June 6 - ENERGY: THE PROBLEM WEVE CREATED What have we learned while we were running out of cheap energy? Tuesday, June 7 - ENERGY: THE WAY WE MOVE Trains, Planes and Automobiles How do we find new resources, modes of transportation and rethink how we live? Wednesday, June 8 - ENERGY: THE WAY WE LIVE From the buildings we live in to the places we work how we are going to keep our habitats lit, warm and efficient? Thursday June 9 - ENERGY: THE WAY WE SHARE As the worlds population inches towards the 9 billion mark, how will supply and demand of energy affect global economics and politics? Friday, June 10 - ENERGY: THE PROBLEM TO SOLVE How hopeful we can be about new technologies paving a path away from a reliance on oil-based energy?
