A CAPELLA SINGING - BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND Monday 7 November, 7.30pm in St Cuthbert’s Church After the success of the last a capella singing workshop, we are having another. Bring a friend, a percussion instrument, a favourite a capella song, a bottle of wine, something to nibble on, or all of the above! 10.00am EUCHARIST 6 NOVEMBER For reasons beyond our control, there will be no ‘Combined Service’ on the Darlington Oval preceding the Arts Festival. In addition, the church site will be set up for the book sale, refreshments and flower festival. Please be aware that, on 6 November, children will need to stay inside the church building with parents during the Eucharist. Winnie Talanoa and Bishop David will join us that day as our guests. ALL SAINTS DAY All Saints Day is always on 1 November. It is a day to remember all the saints who have gone before us in faith, and to remember that, as Christian people, we are all saints. This year we will observe All Saints Day on 30 October. The Intercessions on All Saints Day are traditionally replaced with a ‘litany of the saints’. Anglicans do not pray to the saints, but we do ask the saints, living and dead, to pray for and with us. In the two weeks leading up to All Saints Day, you are invited to write the name of saint (or two) that you would like to be named in the litany.

ALL SOULS DAY EUCHARIST On the vigil of All Souls Day, Tuesday 1 November 7.30pm All Souls Day, also known as the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed, is a day to remember and give thanks for those known to us who have died. A gentle, reflective Eucharist - the names of the departed are read and an opportunity is provided to light a candle in their memory. CHRISTMAS SERVICES Planning has now commenced for Christmas Services. Watch this space for more information and please note the following dates and times: Christmas Eve (Saturday 24 December) 6.00pm – Children’s Nativity and Christmas Carols Christmas Eve (Saturday 24 December) 11.30pm – ‘Midnight Mass’ with Carols Christmas Day (Sunday 25 December 9.00am – Christmas Day Eucharist with Carols The Children’s Nativity Pageant will be performed on Christmas Eve, and also during the regular 10am Eucharist on Sunday 18 December. There is no cost for the program, however you are encouraged to purchase the book. It is available from any online bookstore - we recommend fishpond.com.au where it currently retails for $16.77 with free shipping. HOSPITALITY WORKSHOP #4 For those who weren’t able to make the previous hospitality workshops, the next workshop will take place Sunday 24 November starting at 12.30pm. The workshops are for people who have any hospitality role in the Sunday liturgy - sidesperson, reader, intercessor, liturgical assistant and so on. It’s an opportunity to refresh and renew our hospitality practices.

NCLS - Sunday November 20 Every five years the Churches of Australia spend fifteen minutes completing a survey. From the results, each congregation receives a profile pack which can be used as a source of information to build on strengths and also outlines how a church may have changed since the last survey. The Diocese is able to compare NCLS data with Census data to help with long-range planning.

BISHOP DAVID AND MRS WINNIE TALANOA Sunday 13 November Visiting from Kokoda, Bishop David is the former bishop of Dogura (PNG) and his wife Winnie is a tireless worker in HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. This is an opportunity to catch up in an informal setting.
