Voice your opinion about Hydrofracking in New York! Following a brief overview on the current state of Hydrofracking in New York, audience members will be given the opportunity to present testimony on their views. **If you want your testimony to be submitted to the DEC please bring a written copy. It should include your full name and address. Those giving oral testimony will be given the option to be filmed. The video will be put on YouTube as part of an effort to share public comments with a greater audience.**
Background: The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has proposed opening nearly 85% of the Marcellus Shale to natural gas drilling. The current form of natural gas drilling is known as Hydrofracking, a practice that has raised numerous environmental and health concerns. A 90-day public comment period on the DEC’s Draft Proposals will be ending on December 12, 2011.
