October/November 2011
Dear Friends and Supporters of the Disability Rights Legal Center,
On Thursday, November 17th, 2011, the nation’s oldest cross‐disability legal advocacy organization, the
Disability Rights Legal Center (DRLC), will inaugurate its first Franklin D. Roosevelt Dinner at the Omni Hotel in
Los Angeles, California.  We will be honoring Francine R. Kaufman, M.D. of Children’s Hospital with the
prestigious Charles D. Siegal President’s Award, NBC Universal with our Corporate Diversity Award and Nick
Jonas will receive the DREAM (Disability Rights in Entertainment, Arts & Media) Award. We are expecting 500 of
the city’s leading business, education, and community leaders, along with elected officials, as we present our
awards.  Jennifer Bjorklund of NBC4 will host this exciting event.
We would be very grateful if you would consider making a donation of a gift certificate or tickets to the FDR
Dinner’s silent auction.  Your support would not only help us provide essential services to the disability
community, but it would be an excellent opportunity to highlight your business, your generosity, and your
community support.
All donations to this exciting event are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.  In order to be recognized in
the DRLC’s tribute book and program materials, all donations must be received by November 4th, 2011. The
work of the DRLC has helped hundreds of thousands of California seniors, adults, and children with disability‐
related issues as we fulfill our mission of “championing the rights of people with disabilities through education,
advocacy and litigation”.  In addition, our Cancer Legal Resource Center has provided thousands of callers
throughout the nation with help in responding to their legal and insurance concerns after diagnosis.
Your participation is key in supporting the DRLC’s efforts to continue to serve the disability community.  Please
review the enclosed materials and do not hesitate to call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,

Harvey Saferstein, Esq.  Paula Pearlman, Esq.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Dinner Chair  Executive Director, DRLC
