GRAMMAR SPOT (SB p.60 )
I. Answers the questions 1. You should go to the wedding.  expresses a suggestion. 2. You must see doctor.  expresses strong obligation II. We do not add -s in the third person , or use do or does in the question and negative. Questions are formed by inverting the subject and the modal verb . Negative are formed by adding not or , more commonly, n’t. III. . Using I don’t think…makes the suggestion more tentative.

A few rules
The writer’s address and the date is in the top righthand corner. The recipient’s full name and address is top left but lower than the date. If you know the name of the person you are writing to, use it. Just use the surname. So for a man, write Mr. Smith, and for a woman, and Miss Smith . You can also write Mrs. Smith for a married woman, and Miss Smith for unmarried woman, but only if you know that this is how she prefers to be addressed.

If you don’t know the recipient’s name, write Dear Sir for a man, and Dear Madam for a woman, or Dear Sir or Madam if you are not sure of the person’ sex. If you start a letter with Dear Mr./Ms. Smith, and with Sincerely, your signature, and your full name. Use formal language, no slang, and avoid abbreviating, so write I would not I’d . Use standard conventions. For example, I look forward to hearing from you.
