HOW TO FINISH ODD COUNT PEYOTE (finish ends to a point) By Julie Ann Smith
Some folks are so intimidated by ODD COUNT peyote….I am writing this to assure you that it is really no big deal and quite easy once you get the hang of it. I hope that I have explained it so you can understand it. I’m going to take it step by step…so HANG ON cause once you get this, you will be HOOKED on odd count peyote!
Okay, here you are ready to complete one end of your pattern. As of this point you have worked all the columns and are ready to start your pointed end….
Shown in red, this is the path that your thread has taken on the very last column you worked showing that it is coming out through the black bead. Continuing with your thread now shown in blue, work the thread through the path as shown in the picture. Your ultimate goal is to get the thread in the right place to begin to work the next column. The new column will begin where the turquoise square is located. Now you’ve just started your “stair step” ride on completing your points.
NOW THIS IS THE STEP that you will need to learn to get your thread in the right place to start your points.
Note: Here is I would interject that you will naturally, follow the color chart on your pattern for the proper bead placement. I am only showing you the columns in a solid color so you can see the path of the thread! Also, this method will work in either way, where ever your thread was in the beginning of all this!
Now, have I totally LOST you!? I sure hope not. Let me continue on the next page…
