In this set of materials, the reading section defines a surprising characteristic of human memory, "amnesia", which first noted

in 1805 by "Freud" and the listening section, describes 2 main reasons for this phenomena. In the reading section, the amnesia which is a phenomenon occurs for the human memory is defined. According to this definition, amnesia is inability to remember things and event happened in the first three to five years of life. This characteristic, first noted by Freud in 1805 and thereafter many studies have done to learn more about it. The interesting result of these studies is that people tend not to remember event from their first few years of lives even when the events have been well documented from childhood. This result also may happen when someone asks people remember events of his/her childhood but there is no way to check the responses reality and that is the problem. In the listening section, the professor points out common cause of amnesia. According to his saying, the most common cause of this phenomenon is that children randomly encode events in their minds. In other words, they don't maintain the association of events but on the contrary adults encode events in an organized manner. In addition, He implies that second cause is immature hippocampus. Hippocampus is one parts of the brain and is responsible for consolidating information in an organized manner. In children with 2 or 3 years old, this part of brain isn't mature and that is why they can't remember events in this period of time. To summarize, above-mentioned information implies that amnesia is a phenomenon happen for all human beings and scientifically caused by structure of the brain in childhood.
