BANK ROBBERY The Grand Rapids Police Department responded to the report of an attempted Bank Robbery at the 5/3rd Bank, 700 Bridge St NW, at approximately 10:22 a.m. this morning. The suspect had entered the bank and presented a note making a demand for money. The note also implied that he had possession of a weapon. The suspect fled the bank prior to the demands being met. Witnesses have told police that they observed the suspect arriving on a red mountain bike. Following the robbery the suspect was also observed leaving south from the bank on the described bicycle. The suspect has been described as a black male, 35-40 years of age, 58 to 600 tall, stocky build. The suspect was wearing a baseball cap with a logo on the front, tan sweater, and blue athletic pants with a white strip down the leg. A photograph of the suspect is available at the police information desk or with the detective unit receptionist. The Grand Rapids Police Department Major Case Team and FBI are investigating.
