Web 2.0
Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/ This site encourages people to post or upload pictures to share with other people. All kinds of people use this site – particularly young travellers. Site visitors (even professional photographers) use Flickr to find particular photos by subjects and type using tags. Flickr has invented a new English word: “interestingness” Flickr is part of Web 2.0 because it is a folksonomy. A folksonomy is where many people (folk) can add to and categorise information on the web. Tags and tag clouds are often used for this. Flickr was one of the first websites using tags to do this – in this case for photos.

Web 2.0
Let’s do it! Wikipedia example

I chose a dangerous plant with the same name as my home town (Gympie). The entry for the plant we know as gympie gympie says that it is a poisonous stinging plant. Not much is known about this poison except that it is a neurotoxin that can kill animals and people. Because I grew up in this town I know that the plant leaf is dangerous but the sap is an antidote. If you are stung by this plant the best thing to do is break off a branch (carefully not touching more leaves) and squeeze the sap onto the irritated skin. I added this information to Wikipedia. The editors later decide if they will actually keep my new information.
