Covenant World Relief ..Thanksgiving Offering
What a privilege we have to share in the ministry of blessing others. As told to Abraham, blessing all the families of the earth (Gen. 12:1,3) hinted at a new family relationship, an adoption into one Family of God. Globally, many in our Family are stressed with challenges that test their endurance and faith far more than we could imagine. Others sadly, face those same conditions without hope, as they have not yet come to know the true character of God. This year our Thanksgiving offering goes to Covenant World Relief (CWR), where we can provide tangible hope and practical help. Relief is provided in crisis and emergency situations. Yet most of CWR resources are invested in community development, fostering a more hope-filled future by working for water projects, agriculture, and other long-term structural change. Your generous gift can help with agricultural and medical resources in places as diverse as post, tsunami Japan, the Congo, India, Central Asia, Haiti, Latin America, and Sudan. You may write your check payable to Pasadena Covenant Church and write "Thanksgiving" in the memo. In the Easter offering this coming spring, our children will join us by bringing their soup cans and offerings to help other avenues of global relief. Please be praying and preparing your children to catch the vision of helping others around the world because of the good news we have in the risen Christ. Right now, through our Thanksgiving offering, we help fulfill the promise of Ps. 67, "Let the nations be glad," We will collect the Covenant World Relief offerings on Sunday, November 20th and Wednesday, November 23rd.

Cross-Cultural Communication Specialists' Praise Be Prayer Requests
Recently, Covenant Cross-Cultural workers celebrated the 40th anniversary of Covenant work in Thailand. At a conference, JG shared about the beginning of the work forty years. JG and his wife JG, former Pasadena Covenant church members, are still working in Thailand. Currently, JG has helped develop a ministry to the HIV / Aids community in several different locations in South Thailand and they have also been involved in a English Proficiency school. Praise God for the following: • "Praise God for faithful, committed Thai national staff f SDRF (Sustainable Development Research Foundation) who work hard to reach people for Christ, train leadership and implement the development projects. • Praise God for a new source of income to help support the Tutorial Learning Center in North Thailand-raising crickets for sale." Prayer Requests: • "Pray for the people of Thailand during severe flooding throughout the country at this time-the worst in decades. Thousands have lost homes and need prayer for lodging, food and health during this crisis. Any contributions for the rebuilding of homes and other help can be sent to Global Development Network (GDN) designated for FLOOD ASSISTANCE. • Pray for a volunteer in the U.S. who would like to help EXCEL English Proficiency School in Bangkok via the internet. The profits from this school go to support the development work of the SDRF. We have no budget or expertise in marketing and the competition for students has increased tremendously since the beginning of our school several years ago. We need a volunteer to help with advertising for our school. We could send pictures, information and the volunteer could send ads and brochures, etc. to us via e-mail. Any volunteers? • Pray for safety for all of the staff of the SDRF who travel throughout the country encountering storms, flooding and political violence (bombs and shootings) in various areas."
Cross·Cultural Communication Specialists' Praise a Prayer Requests Continued ...
Pray for CG and KG, Cross-Cultural Specialists working in Bangkok doing community development work. Praise God for the following: • CG is recuperating from knee ligament reconstruction into a drainage hole in their neighborhood. Thailand and for the prayers of God's people. Prayer Requests: • The floods in Thailand have brought much devastation to the country. We experienced flooding in our home two years ago, but it pales in comparison to what those around us are experiencing. We too, are getting ready for the predicted tide rising 16-' 18 October which is supposed to further the problems of the already maxed-out water levels all over our area. • Pray for the results of the back to the Village trip to the province of Buriram Oct. 22-23 (if flooding doesn't postpone the trip). We are going to the home of one of our women whose family is impoverished by alcoholism and few hands are contributing to keeping her family intact. We expect up to 30 of her relatives to join us for the activities we have planned. Pray that god's Spirit would be working in hearts even after we've left and that many would be freed by God's spirit. • Pray for our time in the province of Surin as we visit our co-worker's area of ministry. surgery and KC is recovering from a fall They are thankful for the good medical care in

The Bad Weather Shelter Ministry (BWS) Signups begin in October
BWS Ministry begins Nov. 25th•
When the Bad Weather Shelter is activated, our gym transforms from a basketball court to a shelter for those who need a safe place to stay at night. We need the help of many to care for those who come and stay the night in our gym building. The BWS will be weather activated* from Nov. 25th_
Starting Jan. 1st - Feb. 28th, the BWS will be open every night. From March 1st - March 15th it will again be weather activated*, after which it will be closed for the season. *Weather activated means the night temperature drops below 40°, or rain is expected. Pasadena Covenant is responsible for the 9 \Vednesdays in January and February as well as the Wednesdays while the BWS is weather activated (up to 7 Wednesdays). There are several ways to help with the BWS:
1. As part of a group manning the BWS on one of the 7 Wednesday
evenings in January or February. A group (12 to 15 people) will work from 6:15 to 8:30 - 9:00 p.m. (come earlier if you are cooking in the kitchen) and the group will plan and provide a meal, drinks, and dessert (handout will include suggestions for meals and instructions and information what is included in "manning" the BWS). when the
2. As an individual, available to serve on a Wednesday (or several Wednesdays) BSW is weather activated. You will be place on an "on call" list.
3. Providing frozen lasagnas, which will be stored for use on the Wednesday nights the shelter is weather activated, or donate money to help cover the cost of buying food for weather activated Wednesday nights. 4. Donating clean socks (tube socks work well) for the guests who need them. To sign up to help, or for more information, someone from the Peace and Justice committee will be in the Courtyard/gym at hospitality time in October. Or, call Wayne Walker (626) 396-1750 or e-mail Wayneatwaynefredwalker@gmail.com (on the subject line put: BWS)
