Standard: 4.2.4 Show an appreciation for literature by electing to read for pleasure and expressing an interest in various literary genres.
The target audience for this presentation includes students in Pre-K through 2nd grades. These primary school students are 4-8 years old. The audience is composed of white, African American, Hispanic, and Asian students. The audience consists of beginning readers whose learning styles may be auditory, visual, or kinesthetic. The students may be motivated to find books that are appealing to them based on content and readability. They may already feel confident that they can read or like to read, or they may not feel comfortable choosing a book to read if they have been less successful finding an appropriate book in the past. For these students, the video will serve as a guide to better equip them to find the right book. Objectives: The student will identify three ways to determine if a book is “just right for me”. The student will describe the difference between fiction and nonfiction books.
