7 Management and use of condominium property

Property management in Uganda is currently mainly in-house property management with just a
Iew Iirms practicing contract management. Common ones being Bageine and Company limited,
Knight Frank (U) and Amalgamated properties.
O %he Act speciIies that there shall, upon the registration oI a Condominium plan, be
constituted in respect oI any building or structure to which the plan relates, a corporation
which shall operate under the name '%he Owners, Condominium Plan No.¨
O t is also Iurther speciIied that %he number to be speciIied under subsection (1) oI the
same Act is the number given to the plan upon registration.
O %he act speciIies that the corporation should consist oI persons who own units in the
parcel to which the condominium plan relates.
O %he corporation should also have perpetual succession and a common seal and can sue or
be sued in its corporate name.
O %he Secretary oI the corporation keeps custody oI the corporation seal
O %he common seal oI the corporation is authenticated by the signature oI the chairperson
or oI any other member authorized in writing by the board and secretary.
O t Iurther stipulates that the Companies Act applies to a corporation established under
subsection (1)
