The 2nd SAPA PUBLIC HEARING On Corporate Social Responsibility & ASEAN WHEN: 9 am to 5 pm, November 25, 2011 WHERE: Bali Kuta Resort by Swiss-Belhotel, Jalan Majapahit, Mo.18, Kuta 80361, Bali, Indonesia
This public hearing will look into the various manufacturing, energy, agricultural and extractive activities by transnational and multinational corporations, including companies originating from within the region as well as the local companies that engage with them. Testimonies on the recurring negative consequences of these mega-projects on the lives of indigenous peoples, workers and local communities will be heard from various witnesses who will come from Indonesia, Lao PDR, Cambodia, West Papua, the Philippines and Burma. Also, experts on human rights, CSR and ASEAN will be giving their preliminary findings and recommendation on the cases to be presented. Organized by the South East Asian Committee for Advocacy (SEACA), the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) and the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) for the Solidarity for Asian Peoples’ Advocacy (SAPA) Working Group on ASEAN, the SAPA Task Force on ASEAN and the Extractive Industries, and the Indigenous Peoples’ ASEAN Task Force
