The Story of Newton (p.

What two amazing things did Gods grace do for Newton? How do you feel when you are forgiven?

Sin weakens our relationship with and others. The story of Newton reminds us that even when we sin, God is always merciful to forgive us. This is done through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Word of God: A Woman Caught in Adultery John 8:1-11

Jesus teaches us that God always forgives our sins. He is a very merciful and compassionate Father. Jesus forgives us when we sin just as He forgave the woman in the story.

What is the Sacrament of Reconciliation?

Jesus instituted the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Through this sacrament, Jesus heals us from our spiritual sickness, sin. He leads us back to the Father, receive His forgiveness and love. We do this to build again our relationship with Him.

1. We receive Gods forgiveness. Our sins are forgiven through the priest in the name of Christ and the Church and through the power of the Holy Spirit.

2. We are reconciled with God. The life of grace strengthens and renews our friendship with God.

3.We are reconciled with the Church. Our relationship with the Body of Christ is made stronger and we grow as a forgiving community.

4. We are strengthened to live the Ten Commandments and teachings of Jesus. We promise not to sin anymore.

Act of Contrition
My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend with your help, to do penance, to sin no more and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Amen.
