Meeting called to order at 6:45 in the HS cafeteria. In attendance were Sharon Swain, Michele Finer, Sue Parker, Vickie El-Shrafi, Mike Chafe, Ellen Terra, Pia Guerrero and Eric Laprade. TREASURER’S REPORT There is currently a balance of $51,525.27. There are still a few outstanding cans from the can drive and some coffeecake orders. The canning week-end was not as profitable perhaps due to bad weather but the Boston Coffeecake fundraiser was much better this year. MUSIC DEPARTMENT Senior Jaice Rottenberg modeled the new marching band uniform which will soon be ordered. A devil logo is still being worked on. Also uniforms for the drum majors are still to be ordered and probably will be basic black and white. The music department recently received two grants to be used for the Chamber music library and the drama department. Nov. 16 - the Artist’s recital at the RHS. The HS winter concert this year will be an alumni event with alumni invited back to play at the concert. An informal reception is being planned afterwards at Rick’s Café. MIT Jazz ensemble has offered to do a concert in Randolph. Also students will be visiting MIT for a th concert on Dec. 9 . Scholarships have been awarded to provide private lessons for two HS students. The recipients are Paulina Guerrero and Maysa White. Sharon Swain opened a discussion about new ways needed to engage parents which are not just general fundraising. She mentioned the book she had been reading called “Beyond the Bake Sale”. UPCOMING EVENTS Coffeecake pick-up will be on Friday, Nov18. The cakes will arrive at the MS @ 11:00am. Monies raised will go for SYMS scholarships. Some upcoming dates for Gillette fundraising are Dec. 3 and Jan 1, 2012. We still need two shifts of people and have a potential to make a huge amount of money. On a very sad note, Alan Butz passed away this week and our sincere condolences to the Butz family. Boosters voted to donate $100 to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. The Community Band and the Boosters family are waiting to help the family with meals or visits. Information on arrangements to follow. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45pm. Members and students stayed to help cut Blue Devil scarves and decorate Booster ornaments to be sold at winter events.
