The Shaw Conference Centre (SCC) has an immediate opening for a part-time Eco Coordinator. Working with the Director of Business and Community Development, the Eco Coordinator plays a key role in supporting SCC’s environmental leadership in sustainable building management and promoting eco-event opportunities with clients. This is currently a part time position, 8-10 hours a week, with increased hours available in spring and summer. Responsibilities • Assess SCC’s environmental impact, explore opportunities to enhance sustainability, and implement improvements across departments. • Work closely with SCC staff to maintain environmental awareness and promote best “green” practices. • Identify emerging trends and sustainable and environmental opportunities in the meetings and convention sector. • Lead the development of associated promotional material for clients, staff and external promotional opportunities. • Research and possible implementation of a long-term permaculture project. Requirements: • Degree or working toward a degree in environmental studies or a related field. • Solid understanding of environmental and corporate social responsibility issues within a business environment. • Basic understanding of budget, cost and accounting principles. • Good analytical and research capabilities. • Strong communication skills (oral and written), combined excellent interpersonal skills. • Assume additional duties upon request.
