A producing industry requires raw materials - labor, components, and other supplies. This
requirement leads to buyer-supplier relationships between the industry and the firms that
provide it the raw materials used to create products. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an
influence on the producing industry, such as selling raw materials at a high price to capture
some of the industry's profits.

In the furniture industry, the major raw material is wood. In Italy, there are many related
industries of furniture. They are more co operative. Their most strength is their distributive
channel. The wood and forestry sector is also considered: production, imports, exports and

consumption data are provided for the main semi-finished wood products (sawn wood; wood-
based panels), as well as investments in the wood processing industry. So they have
bargaining power of the supplier.
