A communicating application usuallyinvolves two-way information
transfer. Such bidirectional connections can be classified as either
symmetric or asymmetric connections. The asymmetric nature of data
traffic flow usually means that the volume and speed of data transfer in one
direction is significantly different from the other. A voice connection over

the Internet is an example of symmetric connection while Web browsing is
generally considered an asymmetric connection that involves sending

control information in one direction and data transfer in the reverse

direction.
